Project knowledge introduced me to life long mentors and peers who aided my journey through my freshman year. Because of the support I received, I dedicated part of my sophomore and junior year to instill that same sense of encouragement in the freshman that came after me. Project knowledge also allowed me to get to know and network with people studying STEM at VSU, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I can say that without Project Knowledge and the support system I attained through the program I would not be where I am today... or maybe I would, but I would’ve had a harder time getting here.

On May 19, 2020, I graduated Cum Laude from Virginia State University with a B.S. in Computer Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. Prior to graduation, I’d interned with the Department of Defense for a year, and Johns Hopkins University’s APL for two consecutive summers. When I began to explore my post graduate opportunities, I decided that I wanted to continue my education. I began researching funding opportunities, and soon I was granted the GEM Fellowship through my employer JHUAPL, to ensure that I would be fully funded during my journey through graduate school. I am now at Howard University pursuing a PhD in Computer & Electrical Engineering, with hopes to be done in about 3-4 years.

Not only am I successful, but my mentors, my peers, and my mentees have also developed success stories of their own and I am honored to have been a part.
